We met with this client in the spring of 2020. They had been travelling for years and never really had the time to settle into their home. Our goal was to bridge the client’s style throughout the main floor, selecting art, furniture and decor that would evoke the old-world charm of the ’50s. The client was looking for comfort, no piece should be too fussy. In the end, we settled into an eclectic mid century modern feel.
The first purchase for the home was this fabulous piece of art by Dana Cowie. As the dining room is seen from all angles of the main floor it solidified the palette for our design, and inspired us to paint fireplace blue.
This family room was not maximizing all its natural light. The drapery was dark, too full, and distracting to the eye. We installed a light-textured drapery fabric on a channel rod which allowed the fabric to ripple fold back neatly. To highlight the skylights, we designed a trim detail to carries your eye up the wall.
